The zinc oxide production was resumed on Chelyabinsk chemical plant ?Oxide? at the end of 2007. Zinc oxide is an important primary component in the tire, general mechanical rubber, paint, oil-refining, cable industries and also in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, leatherette, glass, and ceramic goods. Output capacity of ZINCO “Oxide” meets half of the requirement quantity of the zinc oxide market of Russia and CIS countries.
Zinc oxide shop was put into operation at the industrial site of the Chelyabinsk paint plant in 1944. The plant was built based on the evacuee Yaroslavl paint plant and in its turn was put into operation in 1942.
Chelyabinsk paint plant was privatized by installments like many other enterprises during the wholesale privatization in the nineties. At that date the zinc oxide shop became a leased enterprise, then the producers' cooperative. At a later date it was converted to the closed corporation hereinafter closed joint-stock commercial industrial enterprise ?Oxide?.
The enterprise operated healthy till 2005, but it was put out of operation because of a large variety of reasons, among them were the financial and economical factors.
The situation changed in 2007. A strategic investor who had a wide experience in the Chemical Industries market decided to resume production at the Chelyabinsk industrial site. Great financial means were invested in the renovation of the destroyed plant. Modernization and engineering rearmament are on-going to increase the product quality.
Till 1999 the present Chelyabinsk chemical plant produced only zinc oxide, but later the requirement came up to produce rust-inhibitive pigments based on zinc oxide. At present four grades of zinc oxide are producing, which meet market requirements for Russia and CIS. In the near future we plan to reclaim production of various pigment types.
The modern production process of zinc oxide eliminates a possibility of a negative environmental impact by force of nature of physical and chemical phenomena themselves.
